TOWN NEAR YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK MONTANA USA C1885 PHOTO Magic Lantern Slide. Unfortunately the photographer is unknown but likely a wealthy amateur and as a result the images are more natural / naive and not posed like many of the time so have some charm to them. It appears they used both the railroads and river to cross the country. I have dated these to no later than 1885 based on information gained from other images that appear to be by the same photographer. Whilst this slide is untitled a number of the other slides from this group were taken on the Northern pacific railroad route and i have a strong feeling this was taken somehwere in Montana along the railroad route.

I can make out names on the buildings but cannot find any information ralting to them -" J C Hamel Grooer " and " Tofields " but i think these are finnish names... Could be closer though to the park, West Yellowstone prehaps?
